Jimi Akande holds a BSc degree in engineering survey from the University of Lagos, a post graduate diploma in Energy Management from City University London, UK, a diploma in petroleum engineering from OGCI Training Inc, Houston, Texas, USA and over 25 years of extensive experience across the oil and gas industry value chains.
He worked across two producing companies, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) and the first successful Nigerian Indigenous company, Consolidated Oil Limited. His experience covers international assignments in Aberdeen, Scotland, UK, Houston, Texas and Houma, Louisiana USA.
In his 25 years stint in upstream, he worked across the following facets of the Industry, Petroleum Engineering (Production Technologist/Engineering), Petroleum Economics (Commercial), Business Planning, Reserves Accounting, Project Management, Logistics and Procurement. This has provided him a strong knowledge base and competence across major value chains of the oil and gas business.
Before leaving Shell, he was the Economics Lead in charge of Shallow water acreages, Exploration prospects, Midstream Gas (NLNG), Downstream gas (Shell Nigeria Gas-SNG) and a Technical Authority on Economics across all Shell portfolios.
Jimi has very strong soft skills, operations driven, with strengths in business start-ups and an eagle eye on HSSE.
He has a penchant for keeping abreast of global trends and development in the field of project economic valuations.
